it's a small town in Liguria. It is one of the most beautiful places on the western riviera of Italy. Since 1997 Portovenere, together with the Cinque Terre, has been included among the World Heritage Sites of theUNESCO.

They are a jagged stretch of coastline of the eastern Ligurian Riviera located in the territory of the province of La Spezia between Punta Mesco and Punta di Montenero, in which there are five villages or, as it was said in ancient times, lands, listed here from west to east: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore. They are part of the Ligurian Riviera and more precisely of the stretch of the Riviera di levante (Riviera of La Spezia).

With the provincial capital and Porto Venere is one of three municipalities that overlook the Gulf of Poets. The village of Tellaro is part of the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

For many years, Lerici hosted Lord Byron, Mary Shelley and Percy Bysshe Shelley.

Thanks to its position, the city of Sarzana is since its foundation crossroads of important communication routes between Liguria, Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. Since ancient times it was an agricultural, commercial and strategic center of great importance, and already in the Middle Ages it was an important religious and legal center, with the seat of the bishop and the court.
